BEING A STAR | community
We are more than a school—we are a multigenerational anchor in the neighborhood. Teachers, staff, parents, caregivers, and our highly engaged PTA work together to uphold a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment, maintaining long-standing traditions and events that have brought families together for more than 50 years. Alumni continue to return for community events, demonstrating the enduring strength of these connections. Through programs such as Tutu’s Pantry, we further ensure that every family has access to essential support and that no child experiences food insecurity.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS | the extras
The learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Students discover passions through a wide range of enrichment opportunities. These experiences create a truly holistic learning environment and help our children grow bold, curious, and connected—to one another and to the wider community.
We have highlighted the amazing aspects of Kids Club, but we encourage you to check out their website.
THE EXPERTS | staff
At Stevens, every student is seen, known, and supported. Behind everything we do is a staff committed to children’s growth and wellbeing. Most teachers have been here 20 years or more, creating stability and generational trust. Instructional assistants in every 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classroom ensure small-group support, while specialized SEL classrooms, extended resource programs, and dedicated spaces for reading and the arts make learning dynamic and inclusive. Our front office team anchors the school with warmth, communication, and care.
Our small size allows teachers, specialists, and staff to build meaningful relationships across grades. In a community rich in academic, economic, racial, gender-identifying, and behavioral diversity, this personal connection is our superpower. Students grow up surrounded by adults who celebrate their individuality and help them thrive.
OUR HOME | the building
Our 100+-year-old landmark building stands as a cornerstone of the neighborhood, thoughtfully modernized to meet contemporary needs while preserving its historic architecture. Recent updates reflect our community’s commitment to sustainability, including water-bottle filling stations, energy-efficient systems, and solar panels that support long-term stewardship of our shared environment. The outdoor grounds offer spaces designed for active play and connection—a large playground, track, kickball courts, and a covered basketball court that serve students and families throughout the year. Inside, the cafeteria and gym addition provides a versatile hub for daily learning and community gatherings, complete with a climbing wall and a stage for performances, assemblies, and events that bring our community together.
Located directly across from Interlaken Park and just two blocks from Volunteer Park, the school offers daily access to nature, outdoor learning, and public green space. Our quiet, walkable location has earned Stevens recognition as one of Seattle’s most walked, biked, and transit-connected schools—reflecting the ways our families stay engaged and connected to the neighborhood.
Stevens also proudly holds the highest building performance score among currently occupied SPS schools in the central region, a testament to responsible stewardship, thoughtful modernization, and the community partnerships that help keep this historic school thriving.
