Ocean Art with Willow - $225
Learn how to draw and paint ocean scenes and sea life both real and imagined. Draw a whale, paint an ocean sunset, sketch a seahorse, and imagine hybrid sea creatures. Be challenged and inspired to create ocean art while learning painting and drawing techniques. Students will vote as a class on which ocean creatures they will learn to draw. Instructed by artist, illustrator, and storyteller Willow Heath.
Kindergarten - 3rd Grade
Chess: Beginner to Intermediate - $245
Embark on a captivating chess journey designed for brand new beginners and those eager to develop their tactical skills. This class combines a focus on fundamental chess principles with opportunities for students to delve into basic chess openings, laying the foundation for a solid chess repertoire. Guiding this exciting learning experience is our instructor, Michael Adams, a renowned game designer responsible for creating numerous board games, including the popular Cranium Hullabaloo. Michael's unique background as a former kindergarten teacher infuses the class with a warm and gentle teaching style, making him a beloved figure among students. Chess: Intermediate to Advanced - $245
Elevate your chess skills to the next level! Designed for students already familiar with the fundamentals of chess, this course provides an engaging and competitive environment for those seeking to advance their game. Led by the highly skilled instructor William Schill FM, a profoundly gifted chess player with extensive experience, students will join a community of developing players. Throughout the program, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their strategic thinking by exploring historically significant chess games. Weekly sessions involve fun and competitive gameplay, with children vying for a spot on the Chess Leaderboard. This dynamic atmosphere encourages students to implement observed strategies in their own matches. In addition to honing their skills, students are encouraged to practice regularly and can take part in selected chess tournaments held throughout the school year. Get ready to learn how to code and express your creativity! Using Scratch, a fun drag-and-drop coding tool, you will build exciting projects like games, animations, and interactive stories. If you’re just starting out, you’ll code your games with basic concepts, such as loops and variables. Returning students will move on to more interesting concepts like using special conditions and functions. Advanced students will explore advanced topics like game physics! LITTLE CODERS: INTRO TO GAME DEVELOPMENT - $225
This class offers young children the perfect opportunity to develop their computational thinking skills and have a blast with their friends! The course is tailored for early readers and takes into consideration their cognitive abilities and attention span. Beginners learn essential coding concepts, such as Loops and Conditions.
